While students in Sunrise missed singing and playing wind instruments, our creative Music teachers came up with many new and fun ways for students to make music at school! Students in Middle and Senior Years tried all sorts of new instruments and ensembles, including bucket drumming, ukulele, bell kits, hand chime choir, Boomwhackers, percussion ensemble, string ensemble, garage band, and guitar class.
Early years students were still able to play many of our hand-held percussion instruments. Our amazing teachers helped the students stay organized with their own individual packs of instruments or cleaned all equipment between uses. Each school is different but we are all incredibly lucky that Sunrise schools have been able to continue providing music programs in safe and socially-distanced ways! Some schools are now able to offer singing and wind instruments safely during Music classes in accordance with the province’s latest bulletin. Please contact your child’s school for more details about your child’s Music class and read more information from the Province of Manitoba here: https://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/k12/covid/docs/bulletin9mar25.pdf
