Summary: Using the knowledge you have gained in music classes over the years, unpack the elements of your favourite piece of music. This project is like doing music theory, but in reverse. A sort of compositional reverse-engineering.

  1. Transcribe a Melody or Solo

 Summary: Using the knowledge you have gained in music classes over the years (especially what you’ve learned in Jazz Band), transcribe (write out) a favourite melody or solo. You can transcribe it on paper (links to blank staff paper are in the full project details), you can use Noteflight if you would like or you can record yourself playing it on any instrument (except voice). Examples, tips and tricks are included in the full project details.

Summary: Creating an album of music can be an art form. Some albums are a collection of songs, while some are a careful orchestrated plan of moving from one soundscape to another. In this assignment, you are to add music and Foley sounds to a scene that currently contains no sound. It involves using found objects and instruments from around your house to create the soundscape to a short video.
