While summer is a time to reconnect as a family and rejuvenating mind, body and senses, that does not mean that learning isn’t still happening! Sunrise School Division has put together family-oriented activities that emphasize being outside as much as possible!
Please see this as an opportunity to encourage your child(ren) to recognize that learning does not only take place in a classroom during the school year. We have chosen activities designed to be age-independent and easy to do with limited materials. Choose books that are appropriate for your child, set a time limit that works for their age, make a task as easy or as difficult as your child can tackle.
You will notice also that we have limited activities that involve screens. We hope that your children will take a break from their online learning and reconnect with books, board games, and nature. This does not mean that you need to eliminate your normal summer routine, it just gives you some options.
We would love to feature photos of summer learning on our website so please forward pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org. Forwarding a picture will indicate that you are allowing them to be shared on the divisional website and or Twitter account @SunriseSDMB. Along with the picture, please include their name, the grade they will be in starting in September, school and some way to get in touch with you as we would like to do a few draws for age-appropriate prizes.
Last note, if you have any book requests for our online library, SORA, please forward those to email@example.com to have them considered for our library.
