Sabres Youth Credit Union

The Sabres Youth Credit Union (SYCU) officially opened its doors to the student body of Springfield Collegiate Institute in the 2008/09 academic year. It is part of an elective venture course called Management 40S, which is not only an accredited university course, but it also gives students the opportunity to obtain some practical, as well as theoretic knowledge with respect to running a business – perfect for the aspiring entrepreneur. 
 
The objective for those who enroll into Management 40S is to give first-hand experience operating a business. Through a unique blend of classroom learning and hands-on practical experience, students get the training and technical skills they need today to better prepare themselves for the workforce tomorrow.
 
SYCU is always looking for ways to give back to the community through different fundraising drives. Aside from students putting on events and fundraising for the school and its communities, there is also the opportunity for members of the school-run credit union to earn a scholarship to use for post-secondary education.  
 
If your child is already a member of the Oak Bank Credit Union, they can join the Sabres Youth Credit Union for no additional cost; simply fill out a transfer of membership form and the member will have access to their account at any of the Oakbank Credit Union branches.
