Special Olympics Video Features ÉESS Athlete Hayley

For the past three years, the Unified Program has brought together 15 athletes with disabilities and 10 mainstream athletes to practice once a week as well as complete weekly weight room training. The unified team participates in soccer, basketball and bocce ball events and has travelled to Nationals twice; to Peterborough in May 2018 and to Niagara Falls in May 2017.

École Edward Schreyer School was recognized by Special Olympics Manitoba to celebrate the accomplishments of our Unified Program. The video profiles Hayley, one of our Special Olympics athletes.

Since we started the program at ÉESS, the students have gained meaningful peer relationships on and off the court. Watch the video to learn more!
