New This Year
Beginning September 2016, each townsite will have designated 'walk zones' which identifies which addresses are eligible for bussing. Addresses outside the walk zones will be eligible for transportation. If a student's address falls within the designated walk zone, they are considered not eligible for bussing. If your child is not eligible for bussing, please fill out and send us a non-eligible form which is located below. All non-eligible applications will be looked at after all our eligible students are placed on buses, and will only be placed on a bus if room is available.
Please be aware that it takes 3-5 business days for a child to be placed on a bus. This happens once a child is registered and entered into the computer system at the school.
The Transportation Office is located at 1023 Selch St. in Beausejour. Regular office hours are 7:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. and summer office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The phone number is (204) 268-2055. Toll free number is 1-866-824-9545.
We transport approximately 3600 students to and from school each day. This is accomplished through the use of 91 routes and driving 2.5 million Kms.
Eligibility for transportation service is based
solely on the residence of the parent/guardian and requires that the residence
be beyond the designated walk zone from the designated school as determined by
Sunrise School Division. All town sites have a designated walk zones. Walk
zones are posted on the Sunrise School Division website and adhere to Sunrise
School Division policies and Manitoba Public Schools Act. If a student’s address falls within the
designated walk zone, they are considered not eligible for busing All pick-up and drop-off locations are within reasonable walking distance from home.
All pick-up and drop-off changes must be done on a Transportation Application Form.
Getting a ride to school on a bus is a privilege. If a student chooses to act inappropriately, this privilege may be lost. Buses run on a schedule. Please be at your pick-up point 5 minutes before the bus is due to arrive.
If weather or road conditions force bus cancellations, an automated phone message will be sent out to all parents and staff, as well as posting it on the Division Website. If buses are cancelled in the morning, the cancellation will be in effect for the rest of the day.
