Destination ImagiNation is a collaborative endeavour involving student teams of 2-7 participants in creative problem solving. Students can choose from a series of challenges ranging from technical engineering problems to artistic and narrative storytelling. Each type and level of challenge has to be solved using limited resources and according to preset criteria.
Destination ImagiNation operates in nine (9) Canadian Provinces, fifty (50) US States, the Northwest Territories, and more than thirty (30) other countries worldwide.
In 2010-2011, three Manitoba School Divisions became involved in Destination ImagiNation and fielded seventeen (17) teams. Four of these teams qualified and attended the Destination ImagiNation Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee with over 17,000 other Destination ImagiNation participants from over twenty (20) countries.
Destination ImagiNation is valued for its strong development promoting 21st Century student skills around teamwork, innovation and creative problem solving.
